TWO-DAY PROGRAMME

Developing and Implementing an Outward Mindset

In this programme, participants learn the difference between an Inward Mindset and an Outward Mindset™ and begin to see the extent to which they have been operating and leading from an Inward Mindset. With their understanding of the negative effects of an Inward Mindset, this discovery awakens within participants a desire to change to an Outward Mindset™ approach.

Participants learn a series of conceptual frameworks that educate them about both an Inward Mindset and an Outward Mindset™. They then are taught how to leverage these frameworks to assess and plan their work with others in a way that overcomes conflict and invites collaboration. Finally, they begin to implement a series of tools to move them more fully to an Outward Mindset™ way of working. As a result, participants begin working in a far more collaborative manner and become focused on achieving results that are important to the organisation as a whole. Participants also develop a mentality of responsibility in their work rather than one of blame.

This collective application by participants throughout the organisation enables the organisation to achieve breakthrough results and experience substantial and sustainable improvements in key areas such as leadership development, team effectiveness, customer satisfaction, change management, collaboration, and conflict resolution. (Note: This program can be split into two separate one-day programs—Developing an Outward Mindset™ and Implementing and Outward Mindset™. Also, the Day 1 program, Developing an Outward Mindset™, can be delivered in a truncated form in four hours. Be aware, however, that Developing an Outward Mindset™ is necessarily weighted more heavily on learning the concepts. Implementing an Outward Mindset™ is then weighted more heavily on immediate and practical application.)

Key Objectives

Arbinger’s “Developing and Implementing an Outward Mindset” programme equips participants with a set of tools, frameworks and maps that will enable them to:

  • Deeply understand the two underlying Mindsets and their implications on results
  • Learn to honestly assess—on an ongoing basis—the extent to which they are working with an Inward Mindset
  • Learn ways to move from an Inward to an Outward mindset and work in a way that is more collaborative, fulfilling and effective
  • How to positively influence others to change and how to correct without resistance
  • Leverage tools and frameworks to avoid and resolve conflicts
  • Become deeply accountable for their impact on others
